PLAY BACK 1999 :
Developing a Brand Strategy to Stir the Emotions

Four reference models that reflect the eagerness of the development group that created them are on display. These include a next-generation sports car, the RX-EVOLV, powered by a revolutionary new rotary engine (RE), and a new SUV, the ACTIVEHICLE CONCEPT. The EVOLV is a unique 4- door sports car that can comfortably seat four adults. The EVOLV's new 280 hp RE showcases Mazda's greatest technological advantage, and because this engine is naturally aspirated instead of turbocharged, it is lighter, more compact and achieves greater fuel efficiency through the entire range of driving- even while idling.

Female visitors have been showing strong interest in the next-generation NEOSPACE compact, powered by a 1.5 liter direct-injection gasoline engine. The "FreeStyle Door System" without a B-pillar lends to the spacious feeling of the interior. Another concept model, the NEXTOURER, blends the luxury of a sedan with the functionality of an SUV.
