Eliica 1st prototype record challenging car |
In 39th Tokyo Motor Show, Keio University will introduce the latest electric vehicle Eliica. This uses lithium-ion battery as a power source and also innovated new concept called integrated platform. Besides keeping a sedan type vehicle space, it achieved the maximum speed of 370km/h. Though the speed of 370km/h itself does not have any meaning for practical use, it is the point that electric vehicles had to reach out to prove its practicability and safety. Acceleration time from 0km/h to 100km/h is 4.1seconds and 0km/h to 160km/h takes only 7.0seconds. This acceleration performance is beyond that of a commercialized premium sports car. |

Eliica 1st prototype public road testing car |
The name "Eliica" is an acronym of "Electric Li-ion Battery Car". It is a newly invented vehicle featuring component built-in frame as body component technology with Li-ion battery. It aims to reach the ultimate environment and safety standards. Eliica is supposed to be either a four seater sedan that outperforms a sport car, or a sport car that offers space and ride comfort equivalent to SUV which is referred to as a "cross-over vehicle". The Eliica project is cooperated between cosponsored industries and Keio University. Eliica 1st prototype public road testing car passed the test to run on the public road after installing necessary equipment, and is registered as an assembled car. Today, we are evaluating Eliica, focusing on public roads. |

Eliica 2nd Prototype 1/5th Scale Exterior Design Clay Model Type-A |
Type-A is the improvement type from the 1st prototype. The exterior design is similar to the 1st and 2nd car because we put the body on from the 1st prototype with the change of the interior space being larger. |

Eliica 2nd Prototype 1/5th Scale Exterior Design Clay Model Type-B |
Type-B has changed much more from the 1st prototype than Type-A. We pursued the streamline on the front side and it is almost unified with the body and the front glass. On the rear side, it is a come-tail form which we pursued aerodynamic performance. Making the body much larger, we are aiming to be superior to the 1st prototype with aerodynamic performance. |

Eliica 2nd Prototype 1/5th Scale Interior Design(mood(O)ma) |
The Electric Vehicle laboratory and Inakage laboratory, which has specialty in digital entertainment, are developing "mood(O)ma" together, which performs the mood of Eliica's interior in real time by receiving external information. We have suggested "transition of the interior", which interior was thought changeless, and now we will show an interior entertainment you have never seen. We will perform the interior space by using "oval display", which shows colors and patterns enfolding the interior performed ambience. |

Lithium-ion Battery |
Electric Vehicle Laboratory in Keio University has involved to the research and development of the electric vehicle for a long time. Also using lithium-ion battery experimentally. In 2002, laboratory created an electric vehicle named "KAZ" which onboard lithium-ion battery and in 2004, accomplished new electric car named "Eliica" which also onboard lithium-ion battery. As a result of testing with these electric cars, laboratory concluded it is very capable of extraordinary precision for the achievement. However, still lithium-ion battery cost heavy price and diffusion is quite difficult. Keio University founded research organization called L-Square with the foresight of the possibility producing advanced energy-saving systems and aiming at promote energy savings by the lifestyle based on large-scale production of lithium-ion battery. |
