W403 Koito Mfg. Co., Ltd. WP LED Headlamp KOITO has successfully developed and commercialized the world's first LED headlamp using high-output white LEDs. This lamp has been mounted on Lexus LS600h.
Unlike the conventional halogen and HID headlamps, this LED headlamp produces beam patterns by combining light from an LED built-in triplet projector and a small reflector. This offers novel and aesthetic styling in addition to improved visibility.
Next-Generation LED Headlamp System (Type1) The next-generation LED headlamp(Type1) contributes to safety both at night and during the day. When its daytime lighting function is on, the headlamp makes the vehicle conspicuous by changing the color of light depending on the environment, such as bad weather, thus preventing traffic accidents. In addition, it makes driving at night safer by varying illumination ranges for different driving
conditions and securing a wide visible field.
Next-Generation LED Headlamp System (Type2) The next-generation LED headlamp(Type2) is more environment-friendly with its super-lightweight, low power consumption, and contribution to the reduction of CO2 (improved fuel economy). Furthermore, lamp designs will make dramatic strides thanks to LEDs: they enable more aesthetic designs to be made, and so vehicles will become more attractive.
Next-Generation LED Rear Combination Lamp System Using advanced LED technologies, this next-generation signal lamp system warns following vehicles in the event of sudden braking or the vehicle distance getting too short.
·Emergency stop lamp: Provides emergency stop warning to following vehicles by flashing the stop lamp rapidly in the event of sudden braking.
·Short-distance hazard warning lamp: Provides emergency warning to following vehicles by detecting the distance to the following vehicle with a sensor and flashing hazard warning lamps rapidly if the following vehicle gets too close.
WP LED Fog lamp We have successfully developed and commercialized the world's first LED fog lamp using the high-power white LED. This lamp has been mounted on Honda's Gold Wing GL1800 for North American markets.
LED's save power characteristics and its innovative designability makes this fog lamp more compact.
Mercury-free Discharge Headlamp Discharge bulbs contain a trace amount of mercury, an environmentally hazardous substance.
KOITO has successfully developed and commercialized the world's first mercury-free discharge headlamp as well as the super-compact, light-weight ballast for this headlamp.
Global products KOITO Group operates globally through 10 companies and 17 production bases in 8 countries outside Japan. With the motto "We constantly adopt the perspective of customers to supply products and services that meet their expectations," we strive to pursue the latest, most advanced technologies and drive further improvement in product quality, thereby contributing to making car society safer and more pleasant.

W407 Denso Corp. JP Demonstration Device to introduce future technologies For further improvement of preventive safety, DENSO is developing technologies to detect driver's condition and surrounding condition which will support future safety application.
DENSO will introduce our proposal for these systems using a cockpit typed demonstrator.
WP SiC Inverter Silicon carbide (SiC) is a promising material to constitute power devices for traction inverters etc. for hybrid vehicles and electric vehicles. Compared to current power devices made of silicon (Si), SiC power devices are expected to help inverters exhibit higher power with a smaller size, since SiC withstands higher voltage and higher temperature, and produce smaller power loss than Si. DENSO will exhibit a demonstrator of SiC inverters which drive an in-wheel motor.
JP Common rail system DENSO, the first common rail system manufacturer in the world, enabled its systems to operate at 180 MPa (1,800 bar), in 2002, and will introduce 200 MPa (2,000 bar) system next year. Our exhibit will show components for diesel engine management system including 200MPa injection system.
Hybrid Vehicle components To support complex hybrid vehicle systems, DENSO provides state-of-the-art products including: engine management system and traction inverters etc. in the area of power electronics.
DENSO will exhibit these components including a power control unit that consist of two inverters and a boost converter featuring unique cooling technology for power devices.
Electric VCT system Conventional hydraulic variable cam timing systems(VCT) are actuated by engine oil pressure, and so operation of their mechanisms is limited by low engine oil pressure at engine cranking or low engine speeds or by high engine oil viscosity at low engine temperatures. DENSO's electric VCT system, however, flexibly controls valve timing even under such adverse conditions, thus raising engine output and environmental performance.
Sensing system Safety systems, such as the pre-crash safety system and lane keeping assist system, keep the vehicle safe upon detecting the risk of an accident and minimize damage in the case of a collision. The key features of these systems are the "eyes" of the vehicle-sensors which monitor the surroundings and their signal processing systems.
Developing millimeter-wave, vision, and other types of sensors, DENSO flexibly combines the advantages of each sensor and commercializes sophisticated sensing systems for more reliable measurement results and improved vehicle safety.
Air conditioning system Conventional car air conditioning systems control the cabin temperature in response to its changes, but the adjusted temperature may not be comfortable for all vehicle occupants. DENSO's new system with matrix IR sensor measures the surface temperature of each passenger in the rear seat and adjusts the temperature of air blown into the vehicle cabin accordingly.
JP Micro Electro Mechanical System MEMS (Micro Electro Mechanical Systems) are microstructures manufactured on semiconductor wafers by semiconductor process technologies.
DENSO has developed a technology for MEMS having deeper and narrower trench not possible before, and is applying this technology to automotive accelerometer and future products.
Micro prisms under development will be exhibited.
Image recognition technology If drivers can fully grasp the surrounding conditions and drive more safely, they can avoid dangerous situations.
DENSO considers that technologies to enhance the driver's vision will help create a safer automotive society.
One such technology is image recognition, which extracts necessary information from images taken by a camera and identifies objects. This technology could be used to read traffic signs.
We will exhibit this image recognition demonstrator.
Physical condition monitoring The physical conditions of the driver can be monitored during driving; future vehicles could have such a function for staying healthy and for safer driving.
For this purpose DENSO has been developing an electrocardiographic monitoring system. While the driver is gripping the steering wheel, the system measures the electrical activity of the person's heart in real time with sensing electrodes on the surface of the wheel.
