NAKED
(Reference exhibit; a market release is scheduled)
The NAKED was designed to as eminently practical as possible to fit in with its role as a car that is a part of the owner's everyday life. It has been improved in terms of road performance, roadholding and braking, and it is also safer, roomier, and more environmentally friendly. The careful attention to detail include making it short enough to get into tower parking spaces, giving it large side doors that open to around 85 degrees for easier access and to facilitate loading and unloading of luggage, and increasing the height of the luggage space by lowering the floor. Purchasers have a broader range of options that allow the car to be more closely matched to their lifestyles. In addition, there are many detail points inside and out that can be finished or modified by owners who have a mind to.
Conceptually, it is a car that can readily accommodate an owner's creative urges. The NAKED is a brand new concept from Daihatsu that combines the essence as well as the potential of the light car.

YRV(Reference exhibit)
Many owners of compact RVs are unhappy about their road performance. The YRV was developed as a compact RV that also delivers the type of power performance such users want. It features outstanding performance and rear space utility rivalling that of an existing space RV, all in a compact package. The YRV is concept for a new category that offers multipurpose utility together with small-car handing ease and economy and, most important,an exhilarating power performance.

AT-7(Reference exhibit)
A compact car is easy to drive, less of a burden on the environment and is more ecconomical in its use of natural resources. But if you use the same vehicle for both everyday transport and as a leisure vehicle on holidays, spaciousness and comfort beceme more important. The AT-7 was developed to answer these diverse user needs. It is a new wagon concept that utilizes the advantages of the semi-cab layout. Although it is only 3.8 meters long, it is as roomy as a wagon in a larger class, being able to accommodate seven. The AT-7 is the right vehicle, whether it is being used on an everyday basis or as an out-and-out leisure wagon.

KOPEN(Reference exhibit)
There has never been a time when people did not want to experience the freedom and sheer joy that driving a car can bring. Now, while light cars are easier on the environment and natural resources, could they make a good sports car? That was the question, and the KOPEN is the answer: a lightweight, two-seater sports car with a light-car compactness and engine, plus an electrically-operated hardtop. Its small size and light weight only add to the pleasure and exhilaration it brings.

SP-4(Reference exhibit)
Just like a sports car, an offroad 4WD has many elements that make driving it an exhilarating experience. The SP-4 is a new type of offroad 4WD in which those elements have been developed and advanced to where they are expected to be in a few years time. With its strong, modernistic lines, the SP-4 projects an image of unrivalled power. Although it is as compact as a light car, it can seat four in comfort. The SP-4 is equipped with a height adjustment system.

EZ-U(Reference exhibit)
RV type light cars have established themselves. The EZ-U was developed to form the standard for the next generation of such vehicles. To attract a broader segment of the buying public, the EZ-U focused on achieving a more space-efficient interior in order to maximize the comfort of the occupants. The EZ-U represents a conceptual framework for a light passenger car that is equipped with a wide enough range of functions to enable it to be used on a daily basis with no shortcomings, and to also be able to support a diverse range of owners' lifestyle environments.

Micros-3l(Reference exhibit)
The Micros-3l is a new concept in transport means that will start to appear soon that are more rational and easier to use. It is a two-seater transporter that is smaller than a compact, and is highly fuel efficient and clean. It is powered by a gasoline engine, as that is the fuel that is most readily available. It can travel 35 kilometers on one liter of gasoline, meaning it can be driven over 100 kilometers on just three liters of fuel. It emits no carbon monoxide or hydrocarbons, and very low levels of NOx. In the urban setting for which it is intended, it will be equipped with ITS(Intelligent Transport Systems) and compatible with new traffic systems. It could be expected to be utilized in various ways, including as a shared commuter in towns and suburbs, and as a minimalist personal transport.

Technology exhibits
MOVE EV-FC(Fuel-cell Electric Vehicle)
A small electric vehicle powered by fuel cells that do not need charging. Fuel issues are still being studied, but this one was designed for methanol. The methanol converter, the heart of the system, and the fuel cell stack are both products of Daihatsu's own research and development program. This is the world's first four-seat fuel-cel-powered EV with light-car dimensions.

MOVE EV-H II(Hybrid Car)
The world's first hybrid drive unit to be incorporated in a light car combines the functions of both parallel and series configurations. With a fuel consumption of 37 km/l (10-15 mode), it is one of the world's most fuel-efficient four-seaters, it has a very clean exhaust, and a power performance equal to that of a gasoline-powered car. It is also the first such small car to have an all-aluminum body.

MOVE CNG(Natural Gas Vehicle)
The MOVE CNG is powered by natural gas, a fuel that is attracting attention as an alternative to gasoline. It is the first CNG compact with a twin-cam engine that employs Daihatsu's DVVT(Dynamic Variable Valve Timing) system, providing a major improvement in power and torque over earlier models. The MOVE CNG can go 300 kilometers on a full tank.

Storia 2CD(2-cycle Direct Injection Diesel Engine)
A three-liter car designed to go 100 kilometers on three liters of fuel. Although the aim was very low fuel consumption, it was achieved without sacrificing power or comfort. To achieve its excellent fuel efficiency, it has a high-efficiency hybrid scavenging system, a common-rail injection system for highpressure injection, DVVT system and other new technologies. Emissions are in full compliance with pending domestic emission regulations.

TOPAZ Engine
The TOPAZ is a clean, powerful engine for tomorrow's small cars that was developed to deliver top-level performance in every area, starting with power, ecology and reliability.
ÅúNew 1,300 cc engine: An engine for high-performance small cars that incorporates the technologies for improving fuel consumption and reducing engine size. The engine is around the same size as a small-car unit, has among the best fuel economy performance in the class, and its exhaust emissions level is 75% or more below the 2000 standard (J-TLEV).
ÅúNew 1,300 cc turbocharged engine: The turbocharged version of the above engine. Delivers classleading road performance thanks to the precisionmatching between the DVVT system and the turbocharger.
ÅúNew electronically-controlled automatic transmission: This electronically-controlled four-speed automatic transmission is the lightest in the class and most comoact (torque conversion ratio). The same size as a current light-car four-speed automatic unit, it can be used with engines ranging from 660 cc units to 1,300 cc turbocharged units. Fuel efficiency is 10% better than a conventional automatic transmission, and the shifting has an excellent feel.
Other innovative engines and transmissions are also on display.

DAIHATSU ASV-2
This is equipped as a test-bed for Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) technology. The overall aim is to make cars more safe and more comfortable, and to make it easier and more convenient to drive small cares on an everyday basis in urban environments. Daihatsu is using electronics to make cars more intelligent.

TAF Crash-Safety Body
TAF stands for "Total Advanced Function" body. In the event of a crash, a TAF body is designed to maintain the integrity of the cabin and minimize injuries to the occupants. Cars equipped with a TAF body are in full compliance with Japan's crash safety standards (front, rear and side impacts at 50 km/h) and new European standards (56km/h offset frontal impact and side impact). A worldleading safety performance in the class is ensured by designing the TAF body to withstand Daihatsu's own more rigorous standard of withstanding a 40% lap-offset front collision at 64km/h.
