Ford Escape Expression - building on the design of the current Escape, Ford designers have made several 'teasing' changes to draw attention to future possibilities, hinting at styling opportunities that can be quickly introduced to market either as production changes or as accessories.
"Our goal from the start was to accentuate the Escape's on-road presence with styling changes that would enhance its appeal as a crossover SUV. To achieve this, we focused mainly on the grille and head light areas," said Paul Gibson, Chief Designer, Asia Pacific and Africa.
It is a shape and form he knows well, as Gibson was responsible for the exterior facelift for MY06 Escape.
The three-bar grille with silver-accented air intakes gives the front end more horizontal width and ties laterally into the enlarged head lights. Two large lower silver-accented triangular vents contrast with the Fire red pearl paint and again visually touch with the silver-accented side mirrors
Key to the more aggressive front styling, the head lights are larger and more oval in overall shape where as the current Escape head lights stand tall and are very rectangular in comparison.
Set as much as 10mm outward at the front and 25mm outward at the rear, 18x7-inch alloy wheels with 235/60R18 tires fill the wheel arches and firmly ground the Escape.
That punchy color - Fire red - is a combination of red base with a mix of yellow pearl in the clear coat. In profile, the 70 percent dark tinted glass and silver roof bars contrast perfectly with the hot crimson paintwork.
The rear diffuser is Fire red with a horizontal silver accent consistent with the front. The tail lights are the real surprise. The current Escape tail lights are vertical; these are horizontal. The design incorporates LEDs to achieve a unique look and result.
