A particularly innovative technological process consists of reinforcing the rubber of the tread band with a new silica based rubber has developped by Michelin in 1992. It gave rise to the Green X tire which provides reduction in terms of rolling resistance. Silica, obtained from sand, has properties that have long been recognized, including the improved resistance of rubber compounds to tearing. The tire displayed is the same Green X Tire produced at the time. |
