PREMIERE[LOGO] Passat Since its birth in 1973, Passat, which has been known as the model representing "made in Germany" cars saw its rebirth in Germany as its sixth generation model in March 2005. The newly adopted chrome-plated Wappengrill stages the front end even more dynamically. The new Passat has evolved into a model a cut above its class in all aspects with its newly developed engines that include the V6 3.2-liter FSI unit crafted with the liberal use of innovative technologies, a highly rigid body featuring static torsional rigidity 57% higher than its predecessor, a newly adopted electromechanical parking brake and a new ignition system.
PREMIERE[LOGO] Passat Variant The new Passat Wagon announced in Germany in July 2005 features an emotional design and superb functionality only reserved for estate models. The new Passat Wagon has been expanded in all directions with its length stretched by 92mm, width by 74mm and height by 19mm. The interior space and luggage compartment have also been expanded. Especially, the luggage compartment is 603 liters (plus 108 liters) with the seats in normal position, expanding to a maximum space of 1,731 liters (plus 131 liters). Goods of up to 2.9 m in length can be stored. Newly adopted features include dynamic cornering light and new ignition system. Options include automatic level control and a tail gate that opens and closes with an electro-motored mechanism.
PREMIERE[LOGO] Jetta The new Jetta was announced in its home country of Germany in August 2005. This fifth generation Golf-based saloon model has been reborn into an elegant and sportier car. The model will be called under its unified name of Jetta at all parts of the world. One of the characteristics of the new Jetta is the interior space and luggage room which have been expanded markedly. The length of the interior is 1,740mm, or 54mm longer than the interior space of the Bora. This additional length will benefit passengers in the rear seat with the leg room extended by another 64mm. Also, the luggage room was widened 72 liters to 527 liters, boasting an astonishing size for this class of cars.
PREMIERE[LOGO] Golf R32 This new Golf R32 that made its global debut at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show held September 2005 is the most powerful model among the generations of Golf. In Japan, it is positioned as a "Real Sports" model together with the GTI in the Golf Series. The maximum output power of 184kW (250PS) generated from the V6 3.2 liter engine is conveyed to the road surface via the DSG or a six-speed manual transmission and 4WD "4MOTION" system. With an acceleration of only 6.2 seconds (DSG) from zero to 100km/h and a maximum speed of 250km/h, the R32 features the performance of a sports car.
PREMIERE[LOGO] Golf Plus Golf Plus to be released in Japan in October 2005 is a model that pursues new possibilities of the Golf family through its uniqueness. With a roof height 95mm taller than the standard Golf, and with the new packaging employed, the car provides a spacious and comfortable interior space. Also, the luggage room can be used flexibly with the sliding mechanism that moves the rear seat 160mm front and rear, the angle adjustment mechanism that allows fine adjustment of the back rest and the variable cargo floor below the floor of the vehicle. Through these features, Golf Plus pursues ease of use that can be manipulated in many ways in accordance with the lifestyle of the driver.
Touareg Touareg is the first premium SUV introduced by Volkswagen. Developed with uncompromising effort and the infusion of leading edge technology, Touareg features a road performance virtually equaling that of sports cars with designed estimated speed of 270km/h, an astonishing rough-road performance brought about by its advanced 4WD system "4XMOTION" and a high quality of driving comfort comparable to those of a luxury saloon car, all blended together at a high level under the concept of "Three Cars in One." There are two types of powerful engines prepared for the Touareg, a 3.2-liter narrow angle V6 and a 4.2-liter V8. A CDC air suspension is available as option.
Golf Touran Touran (Japanese name is Golf Touran), which was introduced in Japan in 2004 as Volkswagen's first compact minivan, shares the latest technology with the fifth generation Golf that represents Volkswagen. It is a model that was developed under the concept of "serving as a varied transporter for family and leisure" and as a minivan to respond to the increasingly diverse lifestyle of this modern day. Golf Touran not only features high quality standards, excellent driving performance and high degree of safety like other Volkswagen models, but also realizes superb functionality through its unique design that enables varied seat arrangements from its independent three-row, seven seat arrangement.
Golf GTI As noted in the catch phrase "GTI is back", the fifth generation Golf GTI, which boasts of the best performance among its past line of GTI models, has realized the concept of "sporty and comfortable features" of the first-generation Golf GTI at a higher level. The car features a 2.0 T-FSI engine that generates powerful torque from a low revolution zone while giving an airy engine sound characteristic of a sports model. It has a new generation gear box named DSG and a six speed manual gear box. A suspension system specifically tuned for the GTI accurately traces the road surface. With all of these functions working in an integrated fashion, the Golf GTI provides an exciting and highly perfected road performance to live up to its name.
Golf Golf has always served the role as the most important model representing Volkswagen in any era since its birth. The fifth generation Golf, which was introduced to Japan last year, carries on the universal values of past Golf models, such as simple, sturdy and functional design and friendly personality in addition to incorporating new values such as "youthful, innovative and dynamic" features. With its dynamic driving performance acquired by a new engine and chassis, quality beyond its class seen in the body and interior and an emotional design that appeals to one's sensitivity, Golf has made a great new leap in evolution.
New Beetle Cabriolet The New Beetle Cabriolet is a convertible version of the New Beetle which has attracted public attention with its unique design. The car realizes an overwhelming open air feeling unavailable in other convertibles with its front window and A-pillars that do not feel oppressive. Also, the soft top that opens and closes with an electro-motored mechanism folds into a Z shape in the back of the rear seat, which is a reminiscence of the original Beetle Cabriolet. Also, the latest model to be introduced in Japan in October 2005 features emphasized bumper and fender lines that make the car look sharp and dynamic. The interior has also become more attractive with its detailed changes.
Polo The Polo introduced to the Japanese market in September 2005 has a front design called "Wappengrill" based on a new brand identity. In German, "Wappen" in ancient days meant "shield", so "Wappengrill" indicates that it is a grille to protect the passengers at the front of the car. The model is a compact car but it also incorporates many safety devices found normally in higher grade cars such as high tension steel plate, greatly enhanced body rigidity resulting from the use of laser welding technique as well as six airbags, including curtain airbags, ESP and brake assist system. Polo comes as a stylish two door model and a convenient four-door model.

2.0L FSI turbo inline 4-cylinder engine Exhaust turbocharging has been combined with petrol direct injection for the first time in a refined version of the 2.0l FSI naturally aspirated engine. The result is an impressively agile power unit flexible enough to accelerate the GTI from 80 to 120km/h in just 7.5 seconds for the typical overtaking manoveuvre. The spontaneity with which it responds to throttle action is also impressive: this is the result of the high compression ration of 10.5:1, in conjunction with the optimized exhaust manifold module at the hot end and ideal front charge-air cooler with fan blower at the cold end. A broad torque plateau of 280Nm from 1,800 to 5,000 rpm moreover permits an economical driving style with minimal gear-changing work.
