Mitsubishi next-generation MIVEC Engine The MIVEC valvetrain works in two ways: by changing valve timing and lift or by changing camshaft phasing. The next-generation MIVEC engine now under development integrates these two methods and also widens the camshaft phasing range to achieve lower fuel consumption and cleaner emissions than the current MIVEC engine.
