Honda Employs Advanced E-tech

Honda's flagship eco-car is the FCX, a fuel-cell powered 4 door sedan. This auto's design philosophy is separated into two parts, one focusing on the cabin and the other focusing on the floor. Since the fuel-cell in the floor is thin and compact, the FCX has a short nose and a wide cabin. This car uses a Honda produced converter and fuel-cell unit to extract hydrogen from methanol. Honda says it will beat all its rivals by putting the first production fuel-cell vehicle on the market in 2003.

The "insight" hybrid compact has adopted the IMA system, which is mainly driven by a gasoline engine and can get 35 km to the liter, the most of any production gasoline automobile. For most, this is the first opportunity to see the "insight", but soon everyone will have a chance when it hits the market in Japan, Europe and the US on Nov. 1st.
