- Frogster
"Frogster" is a fresh, confident and stimulating
concept car clad in green and resembling the "Laubfrosch"(tree
frong) that was announced in the 1920s. The designers and
engineers of Opel were able to incorporate a novel idea
for the next generation consumers in order to redefine the
concept for today's small cars. This study model employs
an electromotored roller cover instead of the traditional
soft top. As this car has four individually-collapsible
seats, the driver is able to use a single button to freely
change the car into a single seat, or dual seat roadster,
a three-seat, four-seat convertible or "pick up".
When parking the car the cover can be closed snugly to the
base part of the windshield by sliding the cover to the
front like a shutter. Moreover, the small detachable computer
mounted onto the center of the dash board functions not
only as a "Personal Digital Assistant"(PDA), but
as a keyless entry device and the remote control for the
roller cover. When this PDA is housed in the Frogster's
center console it becomes a display for radio, navigation
system and climate control system. Measuring 3,715 x 1,680
x 1,530mm(length x width x height) the front end uses the
large trapezoid-shaped frontend as the design motif. The
large wheel arch, the 175/55 R15 tires, the three-dimensional
head lamps and tail lamps all carry on Opel's design identity.
On the other hand there are many practical equipment incorporated
such as the running board and the large hand grip in the
rear.

- ASTRA Coupe OPC X-Treme
The Astra Coupe OPC X-Treme is a two-seater concept car
based on the Astra Cope V8 race car which was successful
in the Deutch Touring Car championships(DTM). The engineers
off X-Treme used technologies nurtured at DTM in various
areas such as the 4.0-liter V8 engine, FR layout and sequential
six-speed gear box, realizing a car with a maximum output
of 326kW/444ps and maximum torque of 530Nm. The gull-wing
type doors, the most significant features of the exterior,
open and close smoothly with a gas-sealed type strut. Also,
the 265/30ZR20 tires are used in the front and 305/25ZR20
in the rear. The appearance of the car retains the powerful
image of the racing model. Also, because the car is based
on the DTM race car, it naturally has its excellent drive
stability. But the major feature is its corroborative evidence
of the exponential effect on mass production and motor sports
activity. The X-Treme proves the high level of engineering
technology at Open as well as show the serious attitude
of the engineers toward motor sports.

- Speedster
Opel's Speedster Which first made its debut in Germany in
March 2001 was born under the development concept of "pioneering
uncompromising driving excitement." This two seater
is Opel's first "mid-ship" sports car, and also
the first model to use composite materials and aluminum
in its chassis and body. In order to allow driving enthusiasts,
who place more emphasis on performance than riding comfort,
fully enjoy an uncompromising sports car, the vehicle fives
0-100 km/h in only 5.9 seconds and a maximum speed of 217
km. The car exerts excellent nimbleness and road holding
on winding roads. The Speedster carries on the philosophy
of "The lightest, High Efficiency Car and Supreme joy".
With a highly efficient and lightlty designed new high performance
engine the car realizes excellent performance. The 2.2-liter
four-cylinder ECOTEC engine, which is also used in the Astra,
gives a maximum output of 108 kw/147 ps. At MVEG standard
the car features an excellent fuel economy of about 8.5
liters of premium gasoline to allow the car to run 100km
(about 11.8 km per liter) and also comply with the EURO
4 emission standard.

- ASTRA Cabrio
This is the soft-top convertible, Astra Cabrio released
March 2001 in Europe where there is a driving culture that
fully enjoys the wind and sun. While fully taking over the
practical nature of Astra's dynamic driving, the car has
been polished to a degree of high premium quality. There
is a very high requirement for convertibles in Europe where
people are geniuses when it comes to enjoying life. Toward
this end, Astra has responded beautyfully with full-sized
seats that accommodate four adults to fully relax, adequate
interior space and roomy luggage space and more than adequate
engine performance and suspension.
The design was done jointly with Italy's renown "coach
builder" Bertone to realize "sporty and stylish"
styling. The exterior is sporty and luxurious with side
lamps, skirt smoked tail lamp and forward. There is also
the curtain head air bag that protects chrome trunk lid
"garnish". The straight line that extends to the
rear end is particularly emphasized when the soft top is
housed, and this line makes the flowing wedge shape more
conspicuous. As for the interior, the 2,606mm long wheel
base realizes a space for four luxury-oriented adults, a
space that gives full elbow room during open air driving.
The luggage space is about 330 liters. The car has 2.2 liter
ECOTEC engine. ECOTEC engine (108kW/147ps). This is indeed
a Cabrio for adults who truly know the joy of open air motoring.

- HydroGen3
Opel's HydroGen3 is the successor to "HydroGen1"
which was announced recently as fuel-cell mounting car,
and one of General Motors' vision toward a new transport
system. The previous concept car, HydroGen1, uses as power
a fuel cell obtained through the chemical reaction of hydrogen
and oxygen. At the Sydney Olympics in 2000 the car was used
as the lead car in the women's and men's marathon events.
It shows that General Motors is already the world leader
in technology and environmental protection. General Motors
is also well known for its expression of determination to
produce cars that use resources effectively. Its successor
HydroGen3 was made 100kg lighter than HydroGen1 by optimizing
the fuel cell. The car secures about the same luggage space
as a five-seat capacity mass-production car, Opel Zefira.
The (fuel) stack mounted onto HydroGen3 generates a rated
power of 94kW (previously this was 80kW) and a maximum output
of 129kW (previously 120kW) when hydrogen and oxygen are
electro-chemically reacted at a temperature of 80 degree
centigrade. With the extremely effective drive system, an
acceleration of 0 - 100km/h in 16 seconds and a maximum
speed of 150km/h is realized.

and the automatic drive mode for comfortable driving. Quick
and nimble shift change offers sporty driving when the shift
lever is shifted into the manual gate and pushed to the
front to shift up and to the back to shift down. On the
other hand, when driving on congested streets, the car promises
pleasant driving with little fatigue if the shift lever
is returned to the automatic mode.

- ASTRA Wagon
Astra is the crystallization of Opel's dynamic driving that
was proven in the excellent performance shown at the Deutch
Touring Car Masters (DTM). With is self stabilizing mechanism,
the Dynamic Safety (DSA) suspension exerts its stable braking
power even in situations where the conditions of the right
and left road surfaces differ. In addition, there is the
TC Plus System which makes taking off on slippery roads
easy as it suppresses excessive engine output with the unified
control of ABS and traction and applies brakes on the front
wheels when the car slips. The car also has the front active
head rest which lessens the risk of whiplash by supporting
the passenger's cervical vertebrae immediately after the
sensor detects a collision and slides up the head rest and
leans it passengers from side impact. The development concept
and afety features have all been honed through the stringent
driving conditions on the German autobahn. Astra Wagon Sports
mounts the 2.2 liter 16-valve ECOTEC engine that generates
108kW (147ps), and features "white meter", leather-wound
steering wheel and sports seats. It has an interior that
builds up to a dynamic driving premonition. It is a wagon
