The 35th Tokyo Motorshow:"Key Points of Displayed
Products"
Harley-Davidson has added a new page to its history. Introduced
in the Harley-Davidson Japan's booth at the 35th Tokyo Motorshow
are the VRSCA V-Rod equipped with the all-new, liquid-cooled
V-Twin Revolution engine, and the new 2002 Harley-Davidson
series. The VRSCA V-Rod, which is displayed to the public
for the first time in Japan, creates a new genre of motorcycles
while embodying Harley-Davidson's century-long tradition and
legend. Also displayed in the booth are the Buell Firebolt
XB9R and other 2002 Buell sportbike models powered by Harley-Davidson
V-Twin engines. The Harley-Davidson Japan's booth also proposes
fun-packed lifestyles with Harley-Davidson and Buell motorcycles,
and displays various accessories and items.

- VRSCA V-Rod
<Making its first public appearance in Japan>
The VRSCA V-Rod marks the start of a new legend, the debut
of a "performance custom" vehicle. Harley-Davidson's
frst liquid-cooled Revolution engine produces powerful torque
and high output over the entire rpm range while maintaining
the throbbing exhaust note that is an instant giveaway of
its heritage. The performance of the VRSCA V-Rod is astonishing.
The motorcycle somewhat retains the traditional low &
long style, and draws on the aluminum material to create
a new appearance. It is pleasing to the eyes and fun to
ride on. See the VRSCA V-Rod at the Harley-Davidson Japan
booth.

- Firebolt XB9R
<Making its first pubic appearance in Japan>
The Firebolt XB9R is a new member to the Buell family. It
sports a newly developed 984cc fuel-injected air-cooled
OHV engine. With fuel tank-equipped frame and oil tank-equipped
swing arms, Buell's daring, bold concept of "placing
weight at the center" is taken to new heights in the
Firebolt XB9R, successfully achieving much higher levels
of controllability.

- Heritage Softail Series
The fusion of Harley style and modern performance/rideability
has been the feature of this series The 2002 Heritage Softail
models are equipped with the powerful TWIN-CAM 88B engine
which with its biaxial balancers eliminate the disconfort
from vibration. An improved heat management system will
be employed beginning with the 2002 EF1 models.

- Electra Glide Series
The Electra Glide series emanates with grace and dignity.
These touring models all sport the high-performance 1450-cc
TWlN-CAM 88 engine and a plethora of luxurious equipment
The 2002 models has received improvement in the chassis
rigidity and the front and rear suspensions. The 2002 Electra
Glide models offer excellent performance, high reliability
and improved operability to ensure added comfort in long-distance
touring.

- Dyna Glide Series
The sporty Dyna Glide series features the 1450-cc TWlN-CAM
88 engine. The high-strength Dyna chassis is designed to
match the high performance of the new Big Twin. The series
includes the models that are direct descendants of the historically
significant Low Rider and Super Glide. These performance-oriented
Blg Twin motorcycles are extremely popular.

- Sportster Series
<Making its first pubic appearance in Japan>
The Sportster series includes a new member, the XL883R that
somewhat resembles Harley-Dacidson's originar dirt track
racers. This model stmulates the racing spirit in riders.
The slim body responds accurately to the intention of the
rider. It houses the 883-cc or 1200-cc Envolution engine.

- Buell Corner
The Buell family has been joined by the new Firebolt XB9R
this year. Having tuned and incorporated Harley-Davidson's
engine into its original chassis, the Buell brand is spreading
steadily in Japan. The 2002 Buell models include the Lightning
X1 featuring the avant-garde styling and powerful powertrain,
the Cyclone M2 that offers powerful and smooth riding, the
Thunderbolt S3 that combine high-quality equipment and touring
performance, and the White Lightning X1W which is a limited-edition
model produced only in the 2002 model year.
