The GM Experience

In the sprit of group cooperation, harmony and advancement, "Act as One Company", the General Motors Group at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show will have five booths under the concept of "The GM Experience" for GM's north American brands, Cadillac, Chevrolet, Opel from Germany, Swedish Saab and alliance partner, Isuzu. The first floor of double decked building, called The GM Experience building, in the central section will have displays of race cars under the motorsports theme, appealing GM's technology. In addition to overlooking the various booths from the second floor, 2 kiosks by GM Buypower, which recently started its service in Japan. will be installed to have guests freely enjoy its operations.

Cadillac at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show
Cadillac's long-awaited new "CTS" model with right-hand steering, which was developed under the concept of Cadillac's "Art & Science", that is "Desigh and Technology" will be introduced. CTS is the first production model using the new design cue shown through the series of concept cars plus such concept cars as Evoq that manifests "Art & Science" introduced in 1999, the Imaj announced in 2000 and the Vizon which was introduced in 2001. The colors to be used in the simply designed booths will be back and silver to emphasize the image of Cadillac's new design cue.

  • Vizon
    Cadillac's 2001 concept car, Vizon was first introduced at 2001 North American international Auto Show. The Cadillac Vizon provides the functionality of a utility vehicle with the aesthetics, comfort and performance of a world-class sedan or wagon. It's a powerful, surefooted vehicle that surrounds the driver in modern luxury, style and connectivity.
    The Vizon seamlessly unites the best qualities of several difference kinds of vehicle. It is versatile and functional, and like the Cadillac Evoq and Imaj show cars that immediately preceded it, remains the proud inheritor of the brand's latest melding of art and science.

  • Cadillac Northstar LMP
    In June 2000, Cadillac came back to the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race after an absence of 50 years. 2001 Cadillac LMP has been improved in many points. Cadillac finished in 15th position overall at 2001 Le Mans, and Team Cadillac has been getting better and better race by race in this 2001 season. (*Cadillac LMP will be displayed at the first floor of GM Experience building, not in the Chevrolet booth. Not available on 24th.)

    In 1998, the Cadillac division of General Motors Corp. instituted a strategy of Art and Science to define what it means to be a Cadillac in today's luxury automotive market. A series of concept cars, beginning with the Evoq luxury roadster, served as bold visual components of Cadillac's new direction and design form vocabulary. Now the first of the division's production cars to embody that vision of Art and Science has arrived:the 2002 CTS sedan, unveiled at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, the LHD model debuted at Frankfurt last month, and finally RHD version of CTS is unveiled at the 35th Tokyo Motor Show. The boldly chiseled CTS, with its sheer forms, sharp edges and crisp intersecting lines, at once honors Cadillac's storied past and points toward its bright future. CTS will become available in European and Asian countries as well as North American.

Bold, groundgreaking technologies such as Night Vision, the Acclaimed Northstar engine and StabiliTrak have shaped the DeVille's character, and help distinguish the marque from other full-size luxury automakers. Always a safety leader, Deville offers a new feature in 2002:dual-stage air bag inflators. New dual-stage inflators offer maximum protection in high-speed crashes while minimizing injury risk to smaller stature occupants. The system detects vehicle acceleration, and provides the appropriate level of air bag inflation.

Chevrolet at the 35th Tokyo Motor
Chevrolet offers "smart and practical utility" in its varied line up for people who enjoy active life styles. From the 35th Tokyo Motor Show, the traditional brand logo has been renewed into a "gold bow tie." In this simply-colored floor that outlines the gold "Bow Tie", Chevrolet's new symbof, youthful dynamics filled with vibrancy, and the breadth of practical selections will be expressed by the line up of exhibits. There will be an unfolding of the world of Chevrolet that covers highly practical compact cars to the full-scale mid-sized SUVs and sports cars.

  • e-Cruse
    The e-Cruse, developed based on newly marketed Chevrolet Cruse, a new model upon joint project between GM and Suzuki, is the GM's Web Concept vehicle, featuring a lot of communication technology.

  • Chevrolet S-10 Gasoline-Fed Fuel Cell Pickup
    GM recently unveiled the world's flrst gasoline fuel prccessor for fuel cel1 propulsion. The Gen III processor, packaged in a Chevrolet S-10 pickup, reforms "clean" gasoline onboard, extracting a stream of hydrogen to send to the fuel cell stack.

    The Chevrolet Cruse finally debuts. Starting from joint work with Suzuki for YGM-1 in 1999, GM and Suzuki had jointly designed and developed a car to market. The Cruse leads American brand "Chevrolet" to the new international stage.

For improved efflciency, Blazer's fuel management system includes a fuel filler assembly comprlsed of a murti-layer plastic fuel tank, revised Fuel lines and vapor purge lines. Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery (ORVR) compliance components are available for 2002 to help reduce unwanted emissions. To meet low-emission requirements in various states, a National Low Emission Vehicle(NLEV) system is also available on Blazer.

    The Chevrolet Astro is a genuine and authentic American minivan born and bread on the roads of the U.S.A. For 2002, Chevrolet Astro continues to be unmatched in the minivan segment in terms of cargo capacity. towing capability and comfort. Refinements to Astro for 2002 include smoother operation, more convenience and better aesthetics. Adding multi-port fuel injection to Astro's standard 4.3-liter V6 engine makes engine operation smoother and longer lasting.
    The need for an exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) system has been eliminated due to improvements in the catalytic converter's oxygen sensor and computer calibrations. A new synthetic rear axle lubricant reduces axle operating temperatures during towing and hauling for increased seal perforrnance and axle bearing life.
