Fiat Section
The Fiat booth takes its image from the lively and cheerful
Italian style, and is finished by colorful and bright materials.
The two models displayed here, the Fiat Punto ELX "Speedgear"
and the Fiat Punto HGT "Abarth" saw their
debut in Italy in 1999, the year of Fiat's centenary, and
were put on sale in Japan in June of the following year. With
their high practicality and comfort, their stylish design,
and their competitive prices, there two models have always
enjoyed a high popularity and 3,300 units have been already
sold, as of the end of Aug. 2001. (The Fiat Punto HGT has
been introduced to the Japanese market with sports type Abarth
specifications. The model on show this time is of such specifications.)
On top of the two Punto models already mentioned, Fiat Auto
Japan will present the Fiat Punto HLX "Speedgear",
due to be launched in this November : these three types of
Punto constitute a line up studied to satisfy the special
characteristics of the Japanese market. At the Fiat section
we will also exhibit a 2-seat open sport car based on the

One of the highlights of this section is Alfa Romeo's newest
prestige sporty compact car: the Alfa 147, which received
the "European Car Of The Year 2001" award. This
Alfa 147 went on sale in Japan in October 2001. As its contribution
to the "Italy in Japan Year, 2001", Fiat Auto Japan
organized an event called "Museo Alfa Romeo - The Essence
of Beauty". Among the 20 most representative cars of
Alfa Romeo's history, brought from Italy to Japan for first
time, the Alfa 147, a splendid combination of tradition and
the latest technology, gave a great impact to the visitors
of the exhibition. One more special highlight of this section
is the Alfa 156 GTA, a model which personifies the
essence cf Alfa's brilliant racing history and its contemporary
technology. Now 36 years after the numerous victorles that
Alfa Romeo Giulia Sprint GTA saw in many races since 1965,
the legend of GTA will revive here again with the new car
Alfa 156.
In this section the visitor may also find the Alfa Spider,
launched this September with Alfa Romeo's traditional V-type
3 litter engine, Alfa's sports coupe Alfa GTV, and
the best seller: the Alfa 156. The stylish Alfa
Sportwagon, an example of the best achieved combination
of a coupe' with a station wagon, and Alfa Romeo's flagship,
