WELCOME TO THE AUDI STAND AT THE 35TH TOKYO MOTOR SHOW

Yet again Audi leads the way, this time with a unique and innovative design built especially for the Tokyo Motor Show. The pavilion introduces an emotive new world based on Audi's driving philosophy, "Vorsprung durch Technik (Advancement through Technology)". It expresses everything that is the essence of Audi, an essence unchanged since its foundation. Sophistication. Sportiness. Innovation. This is Audi's "DNA" originally developed in 1899 by Dr.August Horch, the founder of Audi.

The two concepts of "Motion" and "Human" are combined in this sensation-filled construction. Orange, to express the warmth of humanity and the architectural design which embodies the changes within the human mind. Together, they represent a new approach to constantly evolving human communications. This is a progressive undertaking only Audi, and its long relationship with leading edge technology, could dare undertake. Most eye-catching is the structure of the exhibit. A majestic wall of approximately 40 square meters soars from the floor at the centre of the pavilion. Constantly moving, it dynamically conveys the Audi design philosophy built into all Audi products, showcasing the cars one after another. A dramatic presentation appeals, with an emotional power, to all five senses. This new world, created by the collaboration of emotion and speed, is sure to impress visitors.
There are 8 models displayed, including the stunning new Audi A4 Cabriolet, which was recently released at the Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) . Also on display, the Audi R8, the blisteringly fast racing car which has won the Le Mans 24 hour race for two years in a row and the S-models, which dominate all other flagship cars. All these cars exhibit Audi's impressive design message. Vorsprung durch Technik.
EXHIBITED CARS
  • Audi R8 (Special Car)
The R8 won the Le Mans 24-hour race in overwhelming victories two years in a row. This was testimony to Audi's innovation realized through technology. The 2001 R8 fitted with a 3.6-liter V8 dual turbo engine featuring Audi's new FSI direct injection technology delivers amazing performance as well as excellent fuel efficiency 8•1-better than the previous engine. The transmission, which was only slightly modified, employs a pneumatically controlled 6-speed gearbox that enables smooth shifting. It goes without saying that significant improvements made to response, drivability, driving performance and durability were important factors in the car's victories. The longitudinal strut in the cockpit, although making driver changes difficult, contributed greatly to improving safety. All of these technologies have been developed with the aim of feeding them back to production cars. Most of the improvements are hidden underneath the highly rigid carbon fiber body, but the refinements made to the new aero package are obvious at first glance.
