The 34th Tokyo Motor Show - Commercial
Vehicles - (2000)
closed successfully with 178,000 visitors attended
Tokyo --- The Japan Motor Industrial Federation, Inc. (JMIF; Chairman
Hiroshi Okuda), the organizer of the Tokyo Motor Show, announced that
the 34th Tokyo Motor Show (patron; H.I.H. Prince Tomohito of Mikasa),
which was held at the Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Center), Makuhari,
Chiba, closed at 6:00 p.m. on November 4 with a great success.
The showÕs theme was "Vehicles of Character Across the World,
Building Our Future." This year's Tokyo Motor Show was the first
commercial vehicle show following the passenger car and motorcycle show
of 1999. The exhibitors from seven countries included 129 companies,
two governments, and two organizations, and the total number of exhibits
was 261 units.
The show ran for five days from October 31 (Tue.) through November
4 (Sat.). In spite of unfavorable weather, the accumulated number of
visitors reached 177,900 far beyond the organizer's expectation of 120,000.
Chairman Hiroshi Okuda said, "We are proud to announce that this
year's Tokyo Motor Show turned out to be a great success as our first
commercial vehicle show. Exhibitors displayed a wide variety of their
state-of-the art products and technologies related to environmental
protection, IT (information technology), and welfare. I believe these
efforts attracted even private car users. Our show will be highly acclaimed
because it successfully provided visitors with an opportunity to deepen
their understanding of various commercial vehicles, while enjoying viewing
various commercial vehicles that support industrial activities and people's
life."
