The 34th Tokyo Motor Show -Commercial
Vehicles(2000) marks the last of these grand events in the 20th
century. Nissan's motto for this year's show is "Best Solution
Partner-Nissan." Nissan has further improved and expanded its
broad lineup of commercial vehicles distinguished by their outstanding
utility and aims to propose and provide the best vehicle that meets
customers' individual needs.
The Nissan booth will showcase 18 models embodying superior utility
and an array of attractive attributes and features. It will also
highlight Nissan's new cutting-edge technologies and the vigorous
efforts being made to address environmental and safety issues. Nissan
personnel will be on hand in all areas to cordially answer any questions
about the exhibits and discuss matters of interest to visitors.

Major Vehicle

AD Van
Executed in a stylish design exuding a fresh sensation, the AD
Van provides outstanding driver comfort. This small commercial
van pursues all-out practicality in terms of payload capacity,
economy, driveability, environmental friendliness and safety.
In addition to a gasoline-fueled model, a CNGV version will also
be displayed as well as an LPG version as a reference model. The
AD Van CNGV was Japan's first vehicle to receive Ministry of Transport
certification for achieving the cleanest exhaust emission level
specified under a newly inaugurated program, which requires a
further reduction of exhaust emissions by 75% from the 2000 exhaust
emission standards. The LPG version is notable for its exceptionally
clean, quiet operation, attributes that have attracted attention
recently as essential qualities in a commercial vehicle powertrain.
Cedric Sedan LV Taxi (reference model
fitted with a swivel rear seat)
This LV taxi is designed for easy accessibility by senior citizens,
persons with disabilities and others who experience difficulty
in entering vehicles. At the simple touch of a switch, the left-side
rear seat turns 90Åãtoward the outside by means of
a motor-driven mechanism to afford effortless ingress and egress.
The notation LV stands for Lifecare Vehicle, a term used by Nissan
Group companies for vehicles specifically designed to assist persons
with special mobility needs.

Elgrand Jumbo Taxi (ITS concept car)
The dedicated wide body and high roof of this ITS taxi create
a cavernous interior appointed to provide true "hospitality."
The car delivers powerful performance in all speed ranges with
a feeling of extra power in reserve. A wealth of ITS features
enable customers to relax and enjoy peace of mind in a comfortable
ambience while also supporting the driver. One notable item in
particular is the Compass Link system that delivers a host of
new information services tailored to increasingly diversified
needs.
These services are obtained through conversation with a human
operator by using a car navigation system and a cellular phone.
All the essential appointments and features for satisfying both
the driver and values customers in the 21st century are incorporated
in the Elgrand Jumbo Taxi.

Safety Technology
Area |
Nissan's approach to safety is based on its comprehensive
Triple Safety concept. On display as a safety technology exhibit
will be the AD Van test vehicle that received the highest rating
of AAA for both the driver's seat and the front passenger's seat
in full overlap frontal collision tests in FY 1999. These
tests were conducted by the National Organization for Automotive
Safety and Victims' Aid under the New Car Assessment Program to
evaluate crashworthiness in various types of collisions.

This exhibit and others will illustrate
Nissan's technologies for Impact Safety, which is one of the Triple
Safety principles and is intended to help reduce injury in the
event of an accident.

Environmental Technology
Area |
The theme of the environmental technology
exhibits is to "achieve environmental friendliness combined
with driving plesure." Nissan's eco-friendly engine lineup
will be showcased along with vehicles powered by compressed natural
gas(CNG) and liquefied petroleum gus(LPG), which have attracted
a great deal of interest lately as clean energy sources. |
Technologies for achieving markedly
cleaner diesel engines for the future will also be highlighted througy
powertrain exhibits and video presentations.

ITS Area |
"Networked vehicles" are
ones that are equipped with advanced information and communications
capabilities. The exhibits will show various forms of business support
that networked vehicles can provide in concert with an informantion
center. Video presentations and demonstration models will illustrate
a bariety of business support services available through the advanced
CompassLink driver-support system and the newly developed Navimos
system for supporting the operation of business-use vehicles. |
Moreover, Nissan's Advanced Safety
Vehicle(ASV) technologies that incorporate ITS capabilities will
be explained in video presentations.

In October 1999, Nissan announced
the Nissan Revival Plan. This area will feature video presentations
showing a wide variety of corporate activities and products that
illustrate the steady efforts being made to rebuild Nissan through
the execution of this plan. |
