Mazda is proud to present a brand-new product that realizeds the Mazda Brand DNA in every facet of a vehicle. The RX-EVOLV:Mazuda's new concept of the sports car in the next millennium. The RX-EVOLV inherits the Mazda legacy, the "fun to drive" spirit. It is the result of the Mazda R&D; team's challenge to create and build a new "four-door sports car" with ample interior space with seating for passengers. It balances superior and athletic driving dynamics of a sports car, with clever packaging that offers comfortable interior for four passengers and enhanced functionality. All these features were made possible thanks to a compact, lightweight and high-output rotary engine, created and developed by Mazda. The RENESIS, Mazda's newly developed compact rotary engine, is used in the RX-EVOLV to achieve the "center midship layout". This layout was made possible by an ultra overhang with larger wheels placed in the four corners, to extend the cabin space. Heavyweight parts like the gasoline tank were positioned in between the wheelbase, for 50:50 weight allocation that provides superb balance and drive control. The RENESIS boasts 280 ps with natural intake, making revving up to 10,000 rpm a stress-free experience within the LEV regulation. In addition the RX-EVOLV has supporting features including an "Active Comering Brake System" for yaw moment control.
NEXTOURER is a new-generation touring car concept that has a spacious, luxurious and comfotable cabin cambined with the functions of a SUV. The style of the NEXTOURER is a combination of strong, elegant exterior design, and comfortable interior design. The rear section of the NEXTOURER's roof is extended, which makes the interior tremendously spacious and creates increased legroom in the rear. The individual reclining seat, and the superb Multi Zone Air-conditioner, improves temperature balance and also offers rapid heating and cooling, enabling individual setting of the climate control by each occupant. Both left and right rear seatbacks fold flat forward independently, and the whole rear seat double folds to create an interior with the flexibility to accommodate different sizes of cargo. With this in mind, the NEOSPACE has been developed as a "Functional Compact Car" with innovative values, attributed and features to enhance the versatility of compact cars. The distinctiveness of the interior and exterior design is supported by the thoughtfully-designed equipment to deliver a high quality feel to the vehicle. Within an easy-to-handle body size, the NEOSPACE highlights Mazda's "insightful" approach by not only providing a spacious interior in which four adults can ride in comfort, but also a highly-flexible cargo space. The rear seat has the NEOSPACE KARAKURI Seat mechanism, providing versatility to respond to a variety of needs. To create a large space with a flat floor, the rear seats can be pushed back and stored in the sunken floor. A folding slopegate is also equipped in the bumper to assist loading. The NEOSPACE "Free Style Door System" to optimize ease of entry and exit and makes a broad and flexible space utility in your daily life to the leisure time.
Mazda has completely updated the popular Capella series to reinforce the Mazda brand personality, making it increasingly Mazda and enhancing the Capella originality. The all-new Capella series features a redesigned hood and radiator grille to emphasize youthfulness and a sporty image. Also the interior has been updated for enhanced quality. Refinements were made to increase ease of usage represented by the upright packaging and a variety of seat arrangement patterns. The Aldehydes Capture Air-Filter, which was well received in the Premacy, is featured for a cleaner environment. The engine is 2.0-liter high power inline-four with 170 ps. The same engine is equipped in the front-drive model that comes with the 4-speed Activematic sports transmission, which produces an increasingly linear drive feel. To achieve leading safety, the new Capella series offer DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) as a manufacturer's option on many packages. To improve fuel consumption and to greatly reduce CO2 and NOX emission, the EGR system has been introduced to the Capella's 4-valve lean bum engine.
Looking to future energy problems and the need to care for the environment has led Mazda to initiate research and development work in the field of fuel cells, which Mazda considers to be a leading candidate as a future automotive power source. As early as 1992 we conducted running tests of a vehicle with a fuel cell, and in 1997 exhibited the DEMIO FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle), based on the DEMIO, at the Eco Japan '97. In April of 1998 Mazda participated in a new alliance with Ford Motor Company, Daimler Chrysler and Ballard Power Systems for the development of fuel cell technology. Through this relationship, Mazda has continued to work on research and development aimed at the realization of fuel cell technology. |
