Young people filling the
Concept Zone

Honda has launched many of the RV vehicles they exhibited at the last Tokyo Motor Show into the market with great success.
This time, Honda is displaying four J-Mover series vehicles in the Concept Zone, suggesting its new motoring style. The predominantly young observers seem to expect this series to become a production model soon. Of course, all J-Movers are said to have been developed for market launch, and after researching their viability, Honda will decide whether to launch these in their current configuration within two years.

J-VX

Popular good-looking
J-VX hybrid vehiclee

Expectedly, the J-Mover series flagship, the J-VX, is gaining popularity, and its unique low, short and wide proportions are the topic of much discussion among young people. The J-VX is a lightweight sports car, emphasizing driving fun, safety and environmental protection, with a direct fuel injection 1.0-liter 3-cylinder hybrid engine with an Integrated Motor-Assistance (IMA) system. Fuel consumption is 30km/l or better, with world-leading clean exhaust emissions.

J-MW

The J-MW attracts young families

The J-MW, multi-purpose wagon, is a new concept recreation vehicle (RV) combining the passenger car characteristics found in wagons and the space utility of a minivan. This model is targeted for young families and the decision to launch this into the market seems imminent. A wild wagon, the J-WJ is designed as a futuristic, rugged vehicle combined with large-diameter wheels to provide pleasant
outdoor driving. The J-WJ's orange paint job has made it the most popular among the series.
The J-MJ is built for the enjoyment of various hobbies - a car when on the move, a room when parked. With the width of its square body taking it to the limits allowed to the small sized cars under the Road Vehicles Act, the J-MJ, with its ultra-flat floor, is ready for the great outdoors and for urban duties.
The Motor Sports Zone, a Honda specialty, has three different types of racing cars based on the concepts of competing in international sports events and developing leading technology in the heat of competition.

A strong competitor has appeared in the compact vehicle market
Ford

 Ford Ka

Brilliant two-tone Ford Ka

An attractive compact car, the Ka, is entering the compact vehicle market, which is led by foreign manufacturers. The Ka seems large on stage, but its actual size is very compact. It also has a right-handled version and is truly a car which the Japanese market has been waiting for. On the other hand, some of the other Ford vehicles, especially the large size cars, are still left-handled. There
is also a hydrogen fuel battery vehicle is being displayed.

The very image of American spirit
Chrysler

The Plymouth Prowler,pure
driving fun

A gigantic artificial rocky mountain is the remarkable feature in the Chrysler booth. And around its foot are reference vehicles built under the "heritage design" concept, which blends classical design concepts into modern designs. The Plymouth Prowler, Chrysler's homage to the American hot-rod, is a definite must see. While not a huge care, its advanced use of aluminum, including an aluminum frame, body plating, suspension parts and other
parts, allowing mass production of 3000 units a year, is the biggest advance in material application in automobile history to date.

Renault

As an impressive record holder of both World Rally and Formula 1 championships, Renault introduces small vehicles reflecting a philosophy of "Les voitures ?
Vivre"to the Japanese market. The M?gane series in the medium compact class are strengthed by the Sc?nic, which might be called a mini-minivan in the Japanese market.

Ms. K. L. Chan

"The Sing Tao Daily is a Chinese newspaper with a daily circulation of 100,000 copies. I came here for gathering information about the Tokyo Motor Show as an editor of a vehicle-related column.
This is my first visit, but everything is fine, both the exhibition itself and the atmosphere of booths. Every booth is very cooperative. There are so many impressive booths including the Toyota booth and the Rover booth that I can not mention all of them." She has reported from the first day of the show and will write a four-page special report. She will leave for Hong Kong after interviewing Japanese car manufacturers.vehicles."
