Opens to the Public on October 30 (Wed.)
JNL-2002-049
September 19, 2002
Tokyo --- The Japan Automobile Manufacturers
Association, Inc. (JAMA; Chairman Yoshihide Munekuni) has
announced that the 36th Tokyo Motor Show, the second of its
kind, will open for six days from October 29 (Tue.) through
November 3 (Sun.) at the Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention
Center) in Makuhari, Chiba. The first commercial vehicle show
was held in 2000 under the name 34th Tokyo Motor Show following
the 1999 separation of the exhibition into a passenger car/motorcycle
and a commercial vehicle show.
The shows theme is Sense
the Evolution_Commercial Vehicles on Stage. It will
run for five days from October 30 (Wed.) through November
3 (Sun.), 10:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m., except for the last show
day ending at 18:00 p.m.
JAMA will hold the opening ceremony at 13:15
p.m. on October 29 (Tue.) in the presence of His Imperial
Highness Prince Tomohito of Mikasa. The Prince is the patron
of the Tokyo Motor Show.
In May this year, JAMA merged with the Japan
Motor Industrial Federation, Inc. (JMIF), the previous organizer
of Tokyo Motor Show. The 36th Tokyo Motor Show is the very
first exhibition organized by JAMA. Collaboration with co-sponsors,
The Japan Auto Parts Industries Association (JAPIA), The Japan
Auto-Body Industries Association, Inc. (JABIA), and The Japan
Automotive Machinery and Tool Manufacturers Association (JAMTA)
should guarantee the events success.

The exhibitors include 106 companies,
two governments, and two organizations (129 companies, two
governments, and two organizations exhibited previously
in 2000). They will display state-of-the art products and
