Mercedes has long been known for
its 3D booths created from natural
materials. This year, it uses bamboo
flooring to produce a warm, roomy
atmosphere. There is a giant screen
showing the history of Mercedes-Benz,
and in front of it is the "F400
Carving" study model, rotating
on a pedestal. The exhibit is popular,
as is the new "SL500" positioned
right in front of it. Every 2 minutes,
there is a demonstration of its
metal top, which opens and shuts
in just 16 seconds, and wows the
visitors every time.
The "PT Cruiser Convertible" in
the Chrysler group display has
been so popular at the motor show
that its commercial launch seems
almost certain. Though still a
concept car, the "Jeep Willys" designed
in celebration of the 60th anniversary
of the Jeep brand is also garnering
attention. Visitors are attracted
by the revival designs that are
so popular in the United States.
