The X-TYPE:A Compact Sports Saloon That Constructs the World of Jaguar in the Premium Compact Car Market
Four X-TYPE models (the 2.5 V6, the 2.5 V6 Sports, the 2.5 V6 SE, and the 3.0 V6 SE) were market launched in Japan in September of this year as Jaguar's first-ever compact sports saloons.
The UK and European launches of these models were in May and together the four models have contributed to a large increase in the company's unit sales.

The new X-TYPE is the first compact sport saloon ever made by Jaguar and it represents the company's entry model to expand its customer base towards a new generation of consumers.
As a 'small but true Jaguar,' the X-TYPE has inherited the Jaguar identity at the hightest possible level, with styling, the core value of any Jaguar, that is obviously Jaguar to anyone's eyes.
The X-TYPE also boasts other essential features for a Jaguar, including a classyinterior, a smooth ride, and highly responsive steering.
Traction-4, an all-wheel-drive system newly adopted by Jaguar, realises outstanding driving stability and helps deliver a dynamic driving performance that is all Jaguar and wholly faithful to the marque's storied history.
The total length of the X-TYPE is 4,685 mm, making it shorter that the S-TYPE by 195 mm and the XJ Series by 340 mm.
The styling is absolutely Jaguar, with a fascinating sculpted form that incorporates the traditional bodyline of Jaguar saloons.
Despite its compact body, it has a highly practical desigh to suit various needs, with a spacious cabin and the largest boot space in Jaguar's history (at 452 litres).
The highest level of safety has also been built in, with all the models of the X-TYPE fitted as standard with dual-stage front airbags, with sensors for the drivers's seat track position and front-passenger-seat weight, front-seat side airbags, and Jaguar's first front-and rear-seat side 'curtain' airbags.
The X-TYPE comes with either a 2.5-or 3.0-litre all-aluminium, water-cooled, 60-degree V6 2.4-valve DOHC engine delivering maximum power of 145kW (198pa) and 172kW (234ps),respectively.
Over 90 percent of peak torque is delivered over a wide range of 2,500 to 6,000 rpm, thanks to a four-mode variable intake manifold and continuously variable valve timing. This means that the car is equipped with top-class power and ease of handling at the same time.
The transmission is Jaguar's unique J-gate five-speed automatic manufactured by JATCO, which realises smooth shifting and dynamic driving performance.
An optional DVD navigation/TV system by Jaguar has seven-inch touch-screen display built into the dashboard and features voice activation for entering destinations.
It is the heart of a comprehensive multimedia system that uses fibre-optic connections to provide centrally controlled air-conditioning as well as run a high-quality sound system.
The launch of the X-TYPE is positioned as a response to the needs of a new generation of consumers who are pursuing an active lifestyle with an original set of values quite different to those of traditional Jaguar customers.
The X-TYPE is also positioned as an important entry model for the Jaguar brand, to ensure sales volume and lead to future business on a larger scale by winning over customers who will upgrade to the S-TYPE, XJ and XK Series.
