Fiat Section

The Fiat booth takes its image from the lively and cheerful Italian style, and is finished by colorful and bright materials. The two models displayed here, the Fiat Punto ELX "Speedgear" and the Fiat Punto HGT "Abarth" saw their debut in Italy in 1999, the year of Fiat's centenary, and were put on sale in Japan in June of the following year. With their high practicality and comfort, their stylish design, and their competitive prices, there two models have always enjoyed a high popularity and 3,300 units have been already sold, as of the end of Aug. 2001. (The Fiat Punto HGT has been introduced to the Japanese market with sports type Abarth specifications. The model on show this time is of such specifications.)
On top of the two Punto models already mentioned, Fiat Auto Japan will present the Fiat Punto HLX "Speedgear", due to be launched in this November : these three types of Punto constitute a line up studied to satisfy the special characteristics of the Japanese market. At the Fiat section we will also exhibit a 2-seat open sport car based on the image of a "young couple", the Fiat Barchetta "Giovane Due", a model blending avant-garde design with Italian styling tradition.
