Exhibit Cars-Volvo 2000 Models (Total: 10 cars) and Exhibition Corner

Photo:BoothThe following three elements embody the "Volvo for Life" theme adopted for the model year 2000 Volvo cars that went on sale in July of this year.

  • Protect Life: To strive for consistent improvement of safety and consideration for the environment
  • Enjoy Life: To provide "driving pleasure" through dynamic products
  • Long Life: To provide the high quality and durability to reassure owners
The topics for the model year 2000 cars have been a dramatic engine improvement and introduction into the lineup of the V70 Nordic and V40 Nordic special edition cars offering significantly enhanced 'value-for-money.' The safety aspect has been strengthened even further by adding anti-whiplash seats to the entire lineup as standard equipment and by adopting new side air bags with a reinforced head protection function in 40 series cars.
At the 1999 show Volvo will be exhibiting a total of ten model year 2000 cars, including its 70 and 40 series (with special specification and limited edition cars) as well as its top-of-the-line flagship S80. In addition, Volvo has prepared an exhibit corner with attractions such as:
  • The 'V-line' story: An area allowing visitors to follow the history of Volvo estate cars from the 1950s to the present. On exhibit will be Volvo's first mass production estate model, the PV445 'Duett.'
  • Safety: There will be numerous exhibits on the latest Volvo safety technology, including a sample display of a new type Dual Stage Airbag that inflates in proportion to the magnitude of the impact energy.
  • Child safety: Volvo will be exhibiting such developments as a sample display of their newly-developed child seat conforming to ISOFIX standards and a "jumbo rear seat" with oversized child seats allowing adults to experience how children feel sitting in a child seat.
  • Kids zone: Also on show will be a "Kids' Dream Car" developed from Swedish childrens' ideas.
  • Environmental measures: This attraction will explain and show items such as the Volvo PremAir® radiator, incorporating a catalytic conversion function for purifying harmful ozone, and Volvo's fuel consumption improvement technology.
